Queensland Mint presents the 1/2oz Aztec Calendar Silver Round available for purchase.

The Aztec calendar stone depicts a date system that adheres to celestial bodies, allowing space for religious festivals and sacred days. The Aztec calendar follows a ritual cycle of 260 days and a civil cycle of 365, with the rirual cycle (tōnalpōhualli) containing smaller cycles with numbered days based on various different deities.

Round Highlights:

  • 1/2oz or 15.55g of 99.9% pure silver
  • Privately minted in the USA

The Aztec solar deity, Tonatiuh, is depicted on the obverse - with the rest of the design organised in a circular manner to mimic rays of sunshine in the same design as the original calendar stone. The reverse displays a portrait of Cuauhtemoc, the last Aztec Emperor of Tenochtitlan, wearing traditional headdress and ear ornaments. The portrait is surrounded by an Aztec border as well as his name and the metal weight and purity.

Please note that individual rounds do not come encapsulated.
