Queensland Mint is proud to present the 2014 1oz Mythical Creatures - Dragon Silver Coin.

According to ancient mythology, the dragon resembles a great winged serpent with an armoured hide. It is believed to be the most powerful creature on Earth, Asian civilisations tell of a legendary creature revered for its nobility, wisdom and spiritual significance, while European and Middle Easter folklore portrays the dragon as a fearsome predator with prowess, magical powers and a lust for treasure.

Coin Highlights:

Reverse: features a coloured dragon guarding piles of treasure including coins, a crown, a chalice and jewels. A medieval style banner displays a silhouette of a dragon and the monetary denomination, the inscription ‘Dragon” featured on a scroll at the base of the design.

Obverse: features the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Inscriptions include the year and "Tuvalu", as the coins are issued as legal tender under the authority of the Government of Tuvalu.
