Queensland Mint proudly presents the #spec_Yaer# 1oz Austrian Philharmonic #spec_Metal# Coin by the Austrian Mint.

Coin Highlights:
Contains 1oz or 31.1g of 999 Fine Gold

The coin was originally designed by Thomas Pesendorfer, the Austrian Mint’s chief engraver, to be used for the Austrian Philharmonic Gold Coin released in 1989. The Austrian Mint introduced the Silver version in 2008. The obverse side features the famous pipe organ from the Goldener Saal of the Viennese Musikverein, recognised throughout the world as the backdrop to the Philharmonic’s New Year concerts. Above the organ, the words “Republik Oesterreich” stand in a semi-circle. The weight and purity, date of issue and face value of the coin stand beneath the balustrade of the organ. For the reverse side he chose eight characteristic orchestral instruments: four violins either side of a cello in the foreground and the Viennese horn, the bassoon and the harp behind. As legal tender in the Republic of Austria, its weight and purity guaranteed by the Austrian Mint, and has a face value of 1.50 Euro. It is the only silver coin denominated in Euros.
